Mimic - Dark X-Men

Good ol' Norman Osbourne tried to dominate the Marvel Universe, America, Asgard, in fact anything he laid his eyes on in the big Marvel punch-up entitled Dark Reign, followed by Siege, where he got what was coming.

Even the X-Men had to cross swords with Normie, after they were branded outlaws, and he then created his own X-Men. The Dark X-Men, lead by Emma Frost, with a membership of Namor, Dark Beast, Mimic, Weapon Omega (Michael Pointer), Daken, and Cloak & Dagger.

Each character was given a new costume, or an upgrade on their usual one. This got me to thinking that these characters will probably not be made in lead by Eaglemoss, not in these costumes anyway, so I thought I'd have a go at a few of them, starting with Mimic.

For the base figurine I used Angel, the obvious choice.

I will do other members of The Dark X-Men, but first I'm going to finish off the Iron SpiderMan I started a couple of weeks ago.

Mastermind Update

Just a quick update on the Mastermind figure I did earlier this week.

This piece was snapped up by a regular customer of mine, many thanks to you. I added a cloak tie to the item, which for some reason had omitted from the original piece.

So here is Mastermind with the extra bit.

I'm itching to complete mimic, I'm not working Sunday, so that'll be the best day to do it.

One of the original members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, along with Magneto, Toad, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. He later on became a member of the Hellfire club, and was instrumental in creating the Dark Phoenix.

He's been in various guises, but I decided to go with his original incarnation, as seen when he was a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, in the 1960's. Most guises have seen him with brown hair, but he originally started out with black hair. I think this was due to the fact he was dressed all in brown, so brown hair at that stage would make him rather bland.

I used a Chameleon base figurine, replaced the head with one from a Sandman figurine, used some Milliput for the hair and cloak, and the end result is.....

That was fun, and different to my usual costume wearing heroes, and villians. I'm in the process of doing Mimic from the Dark X-Men, which hopefully I'll finish soon. I've finished sculpting the Milliput, and I've coated the piece in primer, which leaves the paintwork.

I've also begun on the Iron-Spidey, but i'm still at the sculpting the Milliput stage, so it could be a while longer before this ones finished, because it's quite intricate, with the mechanical arms.

I've also just received the base figurine for another member of ClanDestine, Imp, so watch this space.
